Original Sin // The Ugly Truth

No, it's not about this movie:
Original Sin - 2001 movie
...and it's not about this one either:
The Ugly Truth - 2009 movie

But it's about this one:
Aramis - Scene from "The Man in the Iron Mask" (1998)
....because we wanted to be god; to be exact, masters of our own life (if not of others' as well).

....ever since the beginning, biblically speaking:
Courtauld Gallery Exhibitions
And we are certainly not the first one to want that. This guy went for it first:
William Blake's illustration of Lucifer as presented in John Milton's Paradise Lost
a powerful, strong image standing with pride; honestly can you stop looking at him?
Imagine yourself standing like that, when everything is seems to be under your control?

But can we really do that?
Question: What are these (human invention) for?
Obviously we can't do/control this:

Call that a fluke, blame it to somebody/something else. But we can't do this too:
Does this look like a fluke?
Now I wouldn't call that a fluke. I'd call that an intellectual masterpiece.

So there's this behind the universe:

Don't expect to see it. Many things we can't see but exists, like this.
and we're here:
Where are we?  Point me.

It turns out this kind of ritual  thing activ(e)ity is not so hard to understand makes sense:

Yeah, maybe we're more likely to admire ourselves when we see ourselves doing this pose:

than this one:

Now if we go back to this guy:
Aramis - Scene from "The Man in the Iron Mask" (1998)
...................................................................

Yeah, I know.

So many times I feel the same too:

to control people or circumstances in everyday matters  ~m-w.com
